What is the EBA Academy "Payments from A to Z" training?
The EBA Academy payments training programme is a four-day, in-person professional course organised by the Euro Banking Association (EBA) to provide banking and finance professionals with a comprehensive, up-to-date understanding of the European and global payments landscape.
Developed in collaboration with experts from a diverse range of financial institutions and payments organisations, the EBA Academy combines technical depth with real-world application. Participants gain clarity on how European payment infrastructures operate, how global payment flows are evolving, and how innovation and regulation are reshaping transaction banking.

The EBA Academy payments training consists of four modules spanning four days. This is the content of each module:

Each module consists of eight hours of training and spans one day. For this training, participants will receive 30 credits according to the EBA's training path to becoming a Payments Expert.
By the end of the programme, attendees will have strengthened their professional payments expertise, expanded their cross-sector understanding, and enhanced their ability to respond to change across the financial services industry.

Who is the EBA Academy for?
Who should attend the EBA Academy payments training?
The EBA Academy payments training is designed for professionals working in, or closely with, the payments industry across banks, financial institutions, fintech companies, consultancies, and corporate treasury functions. No prior payments expertise is required to join the general training programme - the curriculum is built to be accessible to those new to payments as well as valuable for experienced practitioners seeking a structured, up-to-date overview.
For those wishing to pursue the Accredited Payments Expert certification, a minimum of three years of demonstrable experience in payments products or operations is required before taking the certification examination.
How much does the EBA Academy payments training cost?
Price for all four modules:
- EBA Members: EUR 2,500.
- Non-members: EUR 2,950.
The price includes all seminar activities, learning materials, and meals/refreshments during the breaks.
For delegates with payments systems experience, the certification “Accredited Payments Expert” can be obtained after successful completion of all modules, including group assignments, and a multiple-choice test (all for a fee of EUR 600).

The EBA also offers two advanced one-day training modules to complement the EBA Academy and to deepen the understanding of important, specific areas of the European payments landscape: "Liquidity and cash management" and "tokenisation of money and digital assets".

Our payments training course is aimed at employees from the fields of business and technology strategies, operations, procurement processes, implementation and product management, at consultants in the private and corporate customer sectors, and at specialist and management staff.

If you would like to participate in the training program, no prior knowledge is needed. If you would like to gain the certification, it is best that you have acquired a certain basic knowledge/notion of payments.
We will provide you with pre-course material that we would ask you to read before the start of the training. The pre-reading items have been carefully selected to introduce the topics and to support in-depth discussions with fellow participants.
The program comprises four consecutive training days that each consist of six class hours.
Hours: first day 10:00 to 18:00, second to fourth days 09:00 to 17:00 (includes breaks). Hours are subject to change depending on course location.
The training will be given in English. We can also offer the same training in French. Please contact us if you would need the training to be held in a different language.
The modules are set up as ‘Classroom trainings’ in a group. Participants and the teacher are all present in the same classroom at an agreed time. There is an opportunity for interaction and feedback, both from the participants to the teacher and vice versa. The teaching material consists, among others, of a presentation via the EBA Academy learning platform, supplemented with various other items (such as digital syllabus, presentation, audiovisual fragments, reading material etc.).
